Blues in the Library for Children and Families

Utilizing a delightful combination of live music and interactive demonstration, The Golden Gate Blues Society presents an informative program of blues and music appreciation, geared toward school age children. The presenter will be noted blues musician, songwriter and educator, Henry Oden.
No tickets are required for this free event.

Anton Schwartz

Jazz saxophonist, Anton Schwartz, has been drawing listeners in with the power, spirit, and subtle complexity of his music since he bounded onto the San Francisco jazz scene in 1995. He leads a group of spirited, professional jazz musicians who pride themselves on bringing a level of musicianship and sensitivity seldom heard outside of the finest jazz clubs and concert halls. While his own writing earns consistently high praise, Anton remains as much at home with the great jazz standards as he is with his own compositions.

Dennis Edwards

Pianist Dennis Edwards and bassist Steve Webber narrate the lives and play the music of America’s greatest “pop” composers including George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Henry Mancini. Their music has been described as “a great blend of excitement, warm elegance and musical fun.” This warm and humorous program has been embraced by audiences throughout the Bay Area, and featured on Comcast Television in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose.

Wayne Wallace

San Francisco based trombonist and composer, Wayne Wallace, once again delivers the goods of burning Afro-Cuban Latin jazz. Featuring one of the most cohesive groups around, Wallace brings long time band mates, Murray Low on piano, bassist David Belove, Paul van Wageningen behind the drums and Michael Spiro on percussion. From fiery, red-hot grooves to impassioned ballads, the level of talent, experience and communication from this tight-knit working ensemble is readily apparent right from the opening.
