Two-time Grammy Award winner Mads Tolling kicks off the 2014 season in grand style.   Former member of The Turtle Island Quartet and Stanley Clarke’s band, his music has traveled the world from Denmark to the Hollywood Bowl.  Taking the violin to new spheres of  groove and exploration, Mads Tolling is one of the most unique creative forces in jazz.With him are Dave McNab, Guitar; Sam Bevan, Bass; Alan Hall, Drums, and Special Guest Vocalist Terrie Odabi.

Kellye Gray - Vocalist & Quartet

Kellye Gray has hypnotized audiences with her stage presence and musicality. She encompasses the full range of vocal jazz expression, from the warmth of her lyrical phrasing to the outer edges of scat singing. With her quartet, Kellye injects new life into standards and transforms contemporary songs into classics.  Performing with her are Ben Stolorow, Piano, Marcus Shelby, Bass, and Leon Joyce, Jr. ,  Drums.

Wayne Wallace Jazz Quartet

Five times nominated for the Grammy Award, the blistering hot trombone of Wayne Wallace unleashes the ferocious Afro-Cuban rhythms that infect your entire body. A Bay Area native that studied in Havana, Cuba, Wallace’s music spans the musical geography from Ellington and Coltrane to Chano Pozo. When Wallace’s 2X Grammy nominated Latin Jazz Quintet turns on the heat, you can’t hide from the beat!  Featuring Murray Low, Piano; Michael Spiro, Congas; Colin Douglas, Drums; and David Belove, Bass.

Taylor Eigsti - Solo Piano

Nominated for two Grammy Awards, Taylor Eigsti has been called by Dave Brubeck “The most amazing talent I’ve ever come across.”  As both a composer and performer, he’s captivated the ears and hearts of audiences around the world. Native to the Bay Area, he is considered one of Jazz’s brightest young rising stars. Taylor will be presenting a solo recital, allowing an intimate encounter with his musical world.

Jamie Davis - Vocalist & Quartet

Beloved on the international stage, Jamie Davis's indigo dark baritone voice is a long-standing favorite at San Ramon. Davis has performed with jazz greats like Milt Jackson, Pharaoh Saunders, and the Count Basie Orchestra.  This is a concert that will ignite everybody’s holiday season with a blast!  With Roger Glenn, Vibes/Sax; Glen Pearson, Piano; John Shifflet, Bass; Leon Joyce, Jr., Drums.
